Learning New Taste With Seafood Appetizers
Seafood is a great basis upon which to build your appetizers. Most people love it; seafood readily takes on other flavors and it is rare enough that your guests will eat it like crazy. Luckily, there are lots of different types of seafood to choose from out there. Shrimp, salmon, oysters, clams, fish, lobster, and more will make your table appetizing and your party the talk of the town. Always make sure to offer a few non seafood dishes for those guests who may not care for seafood or who may be allergic to it.
Make up a bushel of steamed clams for your guests to enjoy. You can also stuff them or bake them. Make some tasty clam dip. Clams are very versatile and make an excellent appetizer ingredient. Get the freshest clams you can for the best results. Prepare them just before serving. There are many types of clams for sale; ask your fishmonger for advice if you're not sure which type will be best for your recipes.
Another seafood favorite is crab. Crab is one of those ingredients that is good on its own or mixed into other recipes. Make a tasty crab dip, tender crab cakes, or use it to stuff other ingredients. Crab stuffing goes well with mushrooms, egg rolls, shrimp, potstickers, and more.
Of course, shrimp has got to be the all time favorite seafood appetizer. While some people prefer a spicy shrimp appetizer, others like them as unadorned as possible. Shrimp can be enjoyed plain with the option of dipping them into cocktail sauce. This is probably one of the most common ways to serve shrimp.
Other shrimp appetizers ideas may include shrimp sushi, grilled shrimp on a stick, and many more. You can add shrimp to small salad cups or you can stuff the shrimp with clams or crab. Wrap your shrimp in bacon or ham and cook until it is crisp. You can't go wrong with the ultimate finger food: shrimp!
With all the shrimp appetizers recipes to choose from, you can serve nothing but shrimp and still have oodles of dishes to enjoy. Shrimp can be packed into won tons or potstickers, or made into a yummy dip.
Another great seafood to serve as an appetizer is salmon. Your guests can enjoy creamy smoked salmon dip on chips or crackers. You could serve them a large fillet that they can dig into themselves. Put salmon on a crostini, make small sandwiches, or roll it into sushi. Don't forget the wasabi sauce! Roll some salmon into a tasty roulade or put it on crackers.
Oysters are a way to really make a good impression. Angels on Horseback is an easy recipe where you wrap your oysters in bacon. Pile them on bruschetta or make some oysters casino. This is a very popular dish served by many restaurants for appetizers. If you have a good source for fresh oysters, consider serving them on the half shell. Display them on a thick bed of ice to keep them fresh and cold.
