Are there wholesale companies that cater towards online retailing?
I recently started my own out-of-home fulltime ebay business, with my plan being to order items from a wholesale company at a discount and re-sell them on ebay for a profit. Are there wholesale companies that specialize in online retailing? Ones that take into account the extra costs for ebay retailers (shipping, very few opportunities to charge sales tax, etc), and maybe offer deeper discounts than most?
Actually, online stores have much lower overhead than retail stores, so you're in a great position to make money on eBay if you're smart about it. You are paying fees, yes--but its MUCH less percentage wise than retail rent, electricity, insurance, CC machines, water...the list goes on & on!
Remember, you don't pay for shipping, your buyers do. Even if you choose to offer "free shipping" you're simply building the costs into your price.
Also, you don't charge sales tax, you just collect it for the state so its not figured into your profits regardless of if you are able to collect from every client.
