Can you use hand warmers instead of oxygen absorbers?
I have seen on youtube where someone used handwarmers instead of oxygen absorbers in storing up food. Only seen this one video, so is this true? I would hate to store up longterm food and if it didnt work the food would be destroyed. thnx
I was actually considering using them myself, but I was reading a survivalist forum which made me decide not to. A few people brought up th point that the hand warmers bring up the temp of the foo thus degrading quality (I think that is minimal because it is only a few hours) and another person wrote that itdoesn't reduce the oxygen enough to the safe level. I guess I'll stick with o2 removal packets for now until I can do more research.
